[ut3] LINUX CLIENT RELEASE DATE - OFFICIAL

Well, assuming that the problem actually is legal, presumably he's
already free.

Unless, that is, he's working frantically to get the client working. I
for one am slightly alarmed that we've had absolutely no word on the
client at all. I'm starting to worry that perhaps it's not going to
happen, or not going to happen for a very very long time...

I'm also irked that I pre-ordered a version of the game, assuming I'd be
able to play it in my Linux-only household from day one. Problem is, I
can't now make it obvious to Epic that Linux support is worthwhile by
only buying my copy once the Linux port is released.

My fear is, given the hassle this has caused, they won't bother to
release a Linux version next time around. Sure, us Linux users are gods
among men and respected for our superior taste in games, but are there
really enough of us for it to be worth their while? (After all, if I
were employing a walking legend like Mr Icculus, I'd feel duty bound to
pay him a huuuuge salary ;)) If anyone feels compelled to reply to this
point, *please please* don't reply with 'Well, I know *I'm* the most
important opinion former I know'. Of course you are. Problem is, your
network is probably small, and may not reach far into the general
populace. Are there actually some cold hard facts about how big a market
Linux games are? (I'm probably only talking about the client here - I
realise that Linux is huge in the server market).

I do agree with the other posters however (and I'm sorry if this
therefore becomes -1 for being repetitive) but I find Epic's
communications strategy bizarre. Why on earth wouldn't you keep your
customers informed of what's going on, and whether they should be giving
their friends shiney new UT3 boxes for christmas?

So Ryan, if you have any hair left, could you please give us some kind
of indication about the client? We know that the server's going to come
soon (for some definition of soon), but how about the client? It is
going to be released, right?

Thanks,

M
