Keys and mouse don't work

Help! When I try to play UT2003 now, I can get into the game, and I can
mouse around the menus, but when I actually get into the level, nothing
works; no keys; no mouse. (I can't hit ESC to get rid of the opening demo
either.) I can't think of anything I've done to change my setup, so I
don't even know where to start. Actually, I take that back; I've moved
~/.ut2003 out of the way to get a fresh config, but that didn't work. Does
anyone know what might be wrong?
