Charles, we dealt with the power issue by drilling holes in the casing
and connecting the camera to a USB power source (not a laptop as the
computer would mount it.) The hole, of course, means the case is no
longer water tight. We dealt with _that_ with electric tape and duct
tape, and I can assure you it worked through three severe rain storms.
