whoa! that hosts thing worked! Quint, it might work for you too. running
slackware 9.0, here's what I did:

1.) su over to root (duh)
2.) vi /etc/hosts
3.) edit "hosts" to contain the following two lines:
127.0.0.1	codauthorize.activision.com
127.0.0.1	codmaster.activision.com
4.)start the server

I connected to my server successfully and then disconnected, though it took
longer to connect than it would have to my win2k server cuz it tried to
authenticate (unsuccessfully!!). But anyway, here's what the console said:

Extra special thanks to Paul Bowsher for the hint, I couldn't have done it
without ya! If you're ever in connecticut on the weekend, i'll buy you a
drink! (well actually you can buy it and ill reimburse since i dont turn 21
til november =)

As you can see, since I set the authorize and master sites to 127.0.0.1 in
the hosts file, /etc/hosts, it could not authorize. hope this helps!!!

Hi Tim,

I don't know i'm figuring out which cvars are new in 1.2 in the hope that
there is a setting for it, but no luck at this moment. And i don't get any
input from this mailing list also because this is still a problem and
nobody knows how to fix it.

I saw that there is an CoD programmer here active and i'm watching every
day now in the hope he reads my questions and answer them. But still no
luck so i have to be patience.... :-(
