Yep, it worked quite good. The short lines of communication, the wide 
range of  platforms and configurations  provides an  excellent testing 
environment. However, it does require good communication :-) It should 
be clear from the binary that it involves a beta version and no quality 
assurance is made what so ever. Versioining is important in this aspect 
and a time-out system  similair to that of Ryan C. (after a hard coded 
time the server no longer runs and displays a informing message) could 
be used to automatically time-out beta versions.
