[bf1942] Work around for 1.5 under FreeBSD

Andreas,

I'm gonna second Steve's request for a static binary from the debian
base.   Some of us who host servers do so on our business systems, and
many of the folks doing that run BSD, and do not wish to use the RedHat
base.   I also own my own servers and use BSD for reasons other than
gaming compatibility, so an OS change is not in the cards, nor is
changing the linux-compat to Redhat.   Without a solution, as Steve puts
it, I'll have to either leave mine as is (pre-1.5), or remove them
completely.
