Yes. Or special click that wouldn't close the menu (f.e. right
button click on the item). Or special method of opening submenu as
noclosable (f.e. right button click on the submenu shortcut).
Also very interesting possibility has menus in OS/2: submenu with
default item. Shortcut of this submenu have special mark (the square
around the triangle). The "Enter" key (or mouse click) on this shortcut
execute the default item of submenu without expanding the submenu. But
the "Right" key expand submenu where default item is marked. See the
attached screenshot.
