installation problem

i just had to reinstall ubuntu.   i lost all my emails (nothing special) 
so i no longer have the answer to this question.   i'm trying to 
reinstall obmenu.   i got everything untarred, i'm in the new directory 
and i ran /sudo python setup.py install/.   this is what i got for an 
answer /"running install
   error: invalid Python installation: unable to open 
/usr/lib/python2.4/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)"   /i 
don't remember if this is the trouble i had before, but whatever it was, 
i have forgotten the solution.
