Multiple instances

I run a multiple desktop system (not xinerama) and would like to use a
different config for each display, any ideas on how to do this? Some
sort of XDG environment setting I guess, I'll have a play myself but
just thought I'd throw it to the ML in case someone has a better idea.

Would it be possible for future releases to have a --conf= flag or
similar?
