Config Options?

I've been looking through the documentation and grepping through the
source (I don't speak C, unfortunately) and I haven't found any info
about alternate values for some of the config settings.

What does <titlelayout>NLIMC</titlelayout> in the theme section mean?
Are there any other options?

Are there alternatives to Smart placement?  I am not finding that the
window placement options (which are as far as I can see, none) ideal,
and I was hoping to modify them.
