It always was an ugly awful protocol. It assumes all sorts of nasty things
like a fixed 64x64 size. It breaks rules in the ICCCM. Need I go on? Much
nicer solutions abound.

Gkrellm works just fine without being a "dock app" now by making itself a
"dock type window". Its in the prefs for gkrellm2, and is more functional
and preferable in aboute every way imaginable :)

(As well as the freedesktop.org systrem tray protocol)
(Also, as well as simply making a window of "dock type" and so managed
properly by the window manager without being stuck into a slit)
By providing more robust solutions to the issue of persistant displays on
your screen :)
