no, really, it isn't a new bug (but it IS really annoying). I've had the same 
problem with lots of old versions of q3data - it just wasn't set up right. 
Uppercase texture names is the most likely cause... after that there are other 
things that can cause it.. but i can't remember what they are. It WILL work if 
you set stuff up a certain way.
We aim to clean up q3data a little for 1.2 anyway, the code that does path 
stuff is a terrible hack, which is what causes these problems.
