I like the idea, but there are several issues:

1) that feature has use in a restricted number of cases, such as specific mods
we want to avoid feature creep in the core, so I'm not going to patch this as a
core modification

2) using a seperate .cam file goes against some long term plans for the .xmap
format, which we want to be extendable fairly easily, without requiring several
files living together.
