FreeSpace Source code Project (FS2Open) can be found at:
  http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/fsscp/

A forum is at:
  http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/
(Look for: The Source Code Project)

The Babylon Project is at:
  http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/babylon/index.php
(This mod _does_ work with the icculus.org version of Freespace)

Black Water Ops is at:
  http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/
(This one works with icculus.org version as well)

I'm not sure how close FS2Open is to working on Linux but I'm pretty
sure that someone is working on it. You should be able to find info in
the forum. The Windows version has new DirectX code and fixes for
GeForce cards as well as lots of stuff for mod makers. Of course those
changes don't really help you that much (if any) with the normal game
but mods (most of which are probably not released yet) do make use of
those extra features.

The mods linked above are going to start using FS2Open features at some
point but for now at least they work with this project. If you have
trouble getting them to work I have VP archives of both mods. The new
release of TBP is buggy at the moment but updates are promised according
to the maintainers. Black Water Ops is only a demo at the moment but
this mod is great and I'm looking forward to the full version.
