OSS4 2019 Notes
Still using OSS4, I decided to add this note/reminder for
me (and maybe other) users of Intel HDA.
The latest Open Sound System build 2019 still has an initialization issue, at
least with the HDA that my ThinkCentre M73 has.
You CAN solve this by keeping the alsa modules, modprobing them
to get THEM to initialize the soundcard.
The 4Front guys need to fix that and I'll mail them asap because this is
kinda messy. Huge thanks to cesium for this fix.
cd /lib/modules/$(uname -r)
tar xf sound-preoss.tar.bz2
depmod -a
soundoff
modprobe snd-hda-intel
soundon
And now the card should be initialized and no unwanted noise should be
audible.
