It's the same with Team Fortress 2.
There are quite a few people on their mailing list waiting for a fix to this
I can't get either game running on my bigger machines, it only works on an
SSE2 enabled machine.
Which means no UT3 for me.

I do have to agree the SSE2 requirement is a bit of a pain..
Our UT2K4 server is a (older) AMD Dual 2600MP, which ran the server inside a
VMWare server image. It did pretty good for the groups we got together..

It's built with -march=pentium4 -mtune=pentium4 -msse2 -mfpmath=sse ...
so it will use generic instructions that were only available on P4-level
hardware, and sse2 for all math operations.
If you're still on Pentium III level hardware, it's time to upgrade.

It's an old box I ran a ut2004 server on. Is it not possible to run without
sse2/pentium4-specific instructions, or simply a matter of build choice?
