Might be, for other intensive CD I/O operations (like some DVD menues, 
games that read info from the CD, etc) I've noticed that in fact (with 
2.4.x kernels) your best bet is to have SCSI emu in all your optic 
devices, however, with 2.6 this has adverse effects (I register a loss 
on I/O performance, especially random seeks with my DVD rom until I 
disabled scsi emu).
