This sounds to me like it's being killed due to memory constraints.
after the game is 'Killed', check the output of the command 'dmesg', and
see if the kernel has said anything about it. it might be the OOM killer
going nuts, in which case, you might just need more swap (see the
manpage for mkswap if you want to create a few temporary swapfiles to
test that theory)
