Question

Hello,

  I've installed the MPEG player and its graphical frontend (gtv) from 
the package "smpeg-0.4.4-3.i386.rpm". The application launches OK and 
seems to run the movie (at least in the gtv dialog/progress window), but 
the window that's supposed to display the actual movie is blank/black. 
Any ideas as to why this may be?? I've tried various releases of the 
smpeg RPMs, with same problem. Some maybe-relevant parameters:
   Red Hat 8.0 (psyche), kernel 2.4.18-14 #1 Wed Sep 4 13:35:50 EDT 2002
   ATI Radeon 8500 video card

I checked the /var/log/XFree86.0.log file for any errors associated with 
running gtv, but found none. Also checked $HOME/.xsession-errors and 
found a bunch of garbage/miscellaneous metacharacters like this:

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions!
