mingw fails to compile on Windows 2000: svn 1089

Could you double check it's a problem in the code please? There is
really very little betweem 1085:1089 that I can see causing a problem.
Assuming you still see a problem, could you identify the exact revision
where the build starts to fail? Thanks.

(It could be that your computer is genuinely just low on memory too...)
