[freespace2] using wine to install freespace2

Ok, I used that installer, seemed to work. Now I get a core dump:
Error: (src/stats/scoring.cpp:234): Error parsing 'rank.tbl'
Error code = 5.

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I guess it's because I don't have the patch that upgrades freespace2 to
version 1.2 applied. Any idea how to install that patch in a
linux-only environment? I downloaded it and even ran it with wine,
but it searches for the windows .EXE file and won't go further.
