This was unresolved last week. Below is the original issue and below it
is a conversation between Joker at mycallofduty.com and myself on his
forums.

Please read it and let me know if you have any ideas.

Thx.

Subject: [cod] game type when running a mod

Hello all,

I run the X4 mod from mycallofduty.com but the problem I am going to
describe happens on all mods I run. Not sure if this is a known bug or
not but if I have a mod running on the server and my map rotation is
anything other than the stock game types that come with the game then
the server wont play that game type until the command set g_gametype
"ctf" is run and a new map starts.

That example was for ctf but it will happen on any other gametype that
is not stock.

Below is a copy of one of my map rotations. If you look at the beginning
of it you will notice I have the game type set to ctf for the first two
maps in the rotation. The first one is ignored and that map is started
as dm and only after the map rotates does the gametype change to ctf.

set sv_mapRotation "gametype ctf map mp_backlot gametype ctf map mp_bloc
map mp_bog map mp_broadcast map mp_carentan map mp_cargoship map
mp_citystreets map mp_convoy map mp_countdown map mp_crash map
mp_crash_snow map mp_creek map mp_crossfire map mp_farm map mp_killhouse
map mp_overgrown map mp_pipeline map mp_shipment map mp_showdown map
mp_strike map mp_vacant"

This only happens when the server is rebooted and after the gametype is
changed it plays the entire cycle fine.

So is this a known issue or am I missing something?

I'll also post this over at mycallofduty.com to see if anyone else is
having the problem.

<BELOW IS THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN ME AND JOKER>

Fistfight: Im seeing this in the console log also. "g_gametype ctf is
not a valid gametype, defaulting to dm"

Joker: Well, now that is interesting right there. Linux server right?
Are you sure the server is loading the mod.ff ?

FistFight: Server runs perfect. feel free to check it out. Its running
at 12.152.181.68:2779 I do remember reading somewhere about an issue
with mod.ff not loading when a server first boots. But that was a post
from back in Jan. Yeah its Linux and its on the 1.7 binaries.

Joker : Yea, the Linux fs_basepath is still an issue with COD4 -- the
mod.ff needs to be in the base install if I remember correctly. Where
is yours?

FistFight: I actually have separate full installs of each server on my
box with all the files needed to run a server. I have each server
installed under a different user on the box. Heres my startup
parameters.

+set fs_basepath /home/cod4-3 +set fs_homepath /home/cod4-3 +set
fs_savepath /home/cod4-3 +set fs_game mods/x4_unitedforces +set
dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg +set net_ip 192.168.1.50 +set net_port 2779
+set ui_maxclients "28" +map_rotate

I have the server installed under /home/cod4-3 and I have the mod
installed under /home/cod4-3/mods/x4_unitedforces/ mod.ff is in
/home/cod4-3/mods/x4_unitedforces

Joker: Well crap at the moment I'm all out of ideas then.
