[cod] Question about sv_gamespy and sv_master[n]

Hello Ian, thanks for your reply.

It's for a remote admin tool. I'm trying to figure out whether I should
write those dvars to the server config or not (when using an Internet
server). It won't do any harm writing them, of course, but I just want the
server config to be as clean as possible.

Regards, Robert

I tend to set them anyway, but haven't had any difference without that I've
noticed. Would also be interest in peoples ideas if there is any method to
which servers respond first on the master server lists, or maybe its worth
doing a region sort or something at some point? Just get a few people who
can never find a server and you know its just there's too much info for
their router to handle.

Sorry if going off at a tangent a bit, just wasnt sure if this was related
to a server not appearing in a master server list problem which we sometimes
get, when it is really.

Hello,

I was wondering if these two server dvars actually do something in CoD2:

*	set sv_gamespy "1"
*	set sv_master1 " <http://cod2master.activision.com/>
cod2master.activision.com"

Their purpose seems clear to me, but will it make a difference if you do not
use them? Aren't these settings hardcoded and activated when 'dedicated' is
set to '2'? I have been testing, and I can see any difference. Anyone has
ever looked into this?

Thanks in advance, Robert
