my base assault server was running on a default installation of redhat
9 with a 2.4-smp kernel. its a 3.06ghz P4 800mhz with HT. last night i
upgraded the kernel to 2.6.10 optimized for a P4 with HT (default
kernel is setup for a pentium pro). now i'm seeing about 20-30% less
cpu usage from UO.

dont know if this will help others but this is my experience so far.
