Well ill copy the pb folder to sed secret location and see what happens
:)
As for root, yer yer having been an admin fer nigh on 12 yrs I know the
sacred uid 0 is frowned apon, but this server is experimental and as
root I can gludge it to work if need be. Once tuned to my liking ill
revert no doubt to user :) Thanks for the concern by the way ...

It's just one of the pathes where it searches for pb files.
First time they will be load from the game folder. 
But whenever Punkbuster is updated, it will download and copy them into
the hidden .callofduty/pb/ directory.

As far as I know I would say this is done in order to avoid write
permission problems when you run the game with normal user rights.
