Not sure if it matters and if it applies but I always ban by the player number 
(the first number shown by `status`, not the guid). E.g. 
/rcon pw banclient 5 
which seems to work just fine for me.

Hope you get it working. Banning is one of lifes simpler pleasures I wouldn't 
want to miss. ;)
