That's not where are taking about here.
What Bryan is saying is there is a bypass for the auth stage
u mention when the server detects the client is on the local
LAN. This bypass is not being activated for some reason and
hence the server "is" trying to auth the client with the master.
Which you correctly say is not possible as the master cannot
talk to the client on its "internal" address.
