didn't get a chance to read the whole post. but i can also confirm
windows NT/2000 etc not performing reliablely after it's servers are
loaded with activity after a day or so requiring a reboot.

playing on a game server over a weekend is totall h*ll when the server
obviously needs to be rebooted (to clean it's buffers?).

The main issue being, there is much more support for linux then there is
for fixing bugs in the concerning the o/s (ie the world fixing linux
compared to one corp fixing bugs in Windows).

Linux will probably be always more stable then any other o/s out there
for years to come (and hopefully many more too!).

One thing I just thought of, maybe EA is trying to release a 1.31 with
all the bugs fixed and synced to the performance of the windows' 1.31
version becuase when a client connects with the server, the server
checks versioning. *however*, this is what the appended numbers mean,
and could/should be simply solved by doing the following 1.31.2 --
where "2" (two) is a sub minor version change.
