One thing I'd recommend to anyone running FreeBSD, particularly if they run 
any linux stuff in the compatibility layer, is to set linux up as the 
default backup brandelf thing.

as root:

echo "kern.fallback_elf_brand=3" >> /etc/sysctl.conf
echo "multi on" >> /usr/compat/linux/etc/host.conf
