Huh, good question...  I just started here myself and I can seem to find
it whilst browsing around on icculus.   Ryan?  are there archives
around?  I'd volunteer to set them up if there aren't.

In the meantime, the basic summary is:
you should have Load "extmod" in your Modules section of your XFree86
config file, and make sure that you aren't disabling extmod or dga
anywhere else in the file.
