That did the trick. Ironically now the glx renderer causes Quake 2 to 
crash, but the sdlgl renderer works fine. The gibbing effect drops my 
system to (I'd guess) around 1 fps, despite the fact that I have an 
Athlon XP 1800+ and a GeForce3 Ti200 :)
