[openbox] Menu fonts

Hi, the fonts in my openbox menus were the way I like them, thin and
crisp, until yesterday. Now they look blurry like the Ubuntu desktop,
which I hate passionately. I did run an apt upgrade and in the log I
see couple of potential suspects:

[UPGRADE] libxft2:i386 2.2.0-3 -> 2.3.1-1
...
[UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-video-ati:i386 1:6.14.4-4 -> 1:6.14.4-5
...
[UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-video-radeon:i386 1:6.14.4-4 -> 1:6.14.4-5

This is the relevant piece of rc.xml:

    <font place="MenuHeader">
      <name>sans</name>
      <size>9</size>
      <!-- font size in points -->
      <weight>normal</weight>
      <!-- 'bold' or 'normal' -->
      <slant>normal</slant>
      <!-- 'italic' or 'normal' -->
    </font>
    <font place="MenuItem">
      <name>sans</name>
      <size>9</size>
      <!-- font size in points -->
      <weight>normal</weight>
      <!-- 'bold' or 'normal' -->
      <slant>normal</slant>
      <!-- 'italic' or 'normal' -->
    </font>

and

 [8+0]~$ fc-match sans
DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"

(the DejaVu fonts themselves were _not_ upgraded)

What's up?
