Yes, I have FreeNX installed on a database server (accounting system)
and it is excellent. Even with FreeNX on that server which the Gnome
desktop I use the Gnone (metacity WM) setting "reduced_resources".
With this setting upon window move or resize a frame is moved /
resized the and the window is redrawn at completion of the move /
resize. Again, this provides a better slow connection experience.
For my present server I only wanted a lightweight desktop and choose
LXDE which uses OpenBox. The users for this server already have VNC.
With TightVNC or Remmina VNC client set for a low bandwidth connection
the performance is reasonable. In my experience with remote desktop
connections over low bandwidth connections window moves / resizes are
often painful without some sort of "only move frame" settings. Not a
make or break feature but nice to have so I thought I would ask.
