[openbox] Making openbox to start new windows on parent desktop.

Okay.  Sorry I do not have a solution for this.

In CTWM, the desktop on which an application runs could be set using xprops
and Xrdb settings.  Not all application allows you to set these from the
command line (though they should if they follow the original X window
standards).

Further changing the xprop after the application starts caused the WM to
immediately move the applications desktop.

I do not know of what facilities OpenBox has for this but it probably
isn't very useful.

Just about all WM's have this type of problem.
