Global pointer change not happening immediately

   I don't know whether this *is* an openbox issue or not, but I noticed 
last week that if I change my mouse pointer via the GNOME prefs. then it 
doesn't change until I log out/log back in.  (mostly;  firefox, at least, 
reflects the change immediately, oddly).

   However, if I do the same thing on my wife's login, with metacity as WM, 
then the new mouse pointer appears on all windows immediately.

   It's only a minor inconvenience, but I'd like to understand what's going 
on.  The WM being different was the only obvious thing I could think of.
