multi screen and maximize windows issue

Im running openbox on my laptop, and if i attach an external screen, it 
behaves kinda wierd.

1. if i try to maximize a window, it opens on both screens.
2. background images stretches out over both screens

i have tried in fluxbox, and there is no problem, but I want to use 
openbox. is it possible to tweak openbox to handle that ?
