I have a feeling this just might be an xorg-server bug, I will look around on their bugzilla. Otherwise do you have any ideas on what is going on? The problem happens with evdev and without...perhaps its how I am calling up openbox? I have it in my .xinitrc file with: exec openbox-session.

I'm just wondering what version of Openbox this is. In 3.4.6 we
introduced some code to react to MappingEvent (keyboard changes), and
to reload the key bindings when they occur.
