Pass focus to desktop or Gnome panels

   I can cycle my normal windows, and I can *show* the desktop with 
(ToggleShowDesktop), but the latter doesn't *focus* the desktop, and there 
seems no way to get focus to the panels.

   Is there something I can do?  What does NextWindowLinear do?
