I think that the nice thing about Openbox is that you don't have to be
limited to some 'integrated' whatever.
If you find gmrun too slow to open, try
grun
pogo
gdesklets (still slow and a hog, but would already be open when you
needed it)
bblaunch (dunno if it works)
gkrellmlaunch
wmdrawer (dockapp)
wmappl (dockapp)
fbpanel
just make a really small gnome custom panel, with just the main menu
idesk (to put icons on your desktop)
or
bind some keys to launch these applications
or
leave a terminal open (so you can just type program_name &)
or
code a very simple application that doesn't have decorations but accepts
user input to know which program to run-- gmrun is gpl, so one should be
able to extract the functionality without the "cruft".
Anyway, the benefit of OB is its flexibility-- but that means sometimes
you have to try doing things a different way.
