Problem compiling Xft support

Hi,

	When I run ./configure I get this error message:

checking for XftFontOpenXlfd in -lXft... yes
checking for X11/Xft/Xft.h for Xft1... no

** WARNING: Xft support is disabled! **

As this is for my LFS system and I want to set up my window manager before 
other X programs I haven't tried compiling any other programs with Xft, but I 
have tried it on my Mandrake 9.1 install and I get the same error.

I've tried searching google and I found posts elsewhere for the same problem, 
but no solution.

Can anyone help me?
