Scripts which are much more complete and portable exist for these
tasks.
http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~marius/files/scripts/obthememenu respects the
XDG spec and will generate a menu for all the themes on your system --
not only ~/.themes. (which is a non-standard dir anyway, btw) It also
splits theme menus into submenus if they get too large.
http://tr.openmonkey.com/openbox.php is a nifty script which helps
manage backgrounds via a pipe menu.
