[openbox] make error

Well, I am confused by this. Those 'errors' are a normal part of the build
process for ob2 actually, thanks to catgets. If you are intending to use
english anyhow, you can pass --disable-nls to configure, which should clear
up any problems. If you want the non-english translations, then things get a
little weirder:
a) are you using GNU make (gmake on bsd systems)
b) if you are, could you try the latest 2.3 release and see if you have
   better luck there, perhaps it has been fixed.
