Old, and I don't know if it's actively maintained anymore, but

On Debian, you can apt-get install nawm.
And then you can write a little file like this:
---------------BEGIN mapmutt-----------------
begin {
find "mutt:";
if (name(currentwindow) == "mutt:") {
map;
raise;
}
else {
exec "xmutt default";
}
}
----------------END mapmutt------------------
and run
nawm -f mapmutt
:)
