I think I've got a similar Problem. I use debian etch (i386) with the latest
nvidia-driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762) and kernel 2.6.17.4.
GtkRadiant 1.4, the 1.5-snapshot from march 2nd and the current svn (Revision
91) crash.
Valgrind tells me, that the crash occurs "(within
/usr/lib/libgdkglext-x11-1.0.so.0.2.4)":

using a selfcompiled unstripped libgdkglext-x11-1.0.so it tells me 
"at 0x48901DE: gdk_gl_font_use_pango_font_common (gdkglfont-x11.c:114)"


on another box, also debian etch i386, but no nvidia-gfx, radiant works, so I
assume that the problem lies in the new nvidia-drivers (maybe in connection with
x.org 7.0).
