It sounds like you're having a problem which has a workaround detailed

Video Card/OpenGL Drivers: NVIDIa GeForce FX 5200
Version of GTKRadiant: GTKRadiant 1.50 2004-12-05

Error:
Runtime Error this application requested the runtime to terminate in a
unusak way (process 352): warning(recursed) counldnt load font'MS
SHELLDLG10" falling back to sans 10 new massage 
process 352 Glib-Critcal (recursed) file gsting : C line 311
(g_string_string_free assertion string  :Null failed  "(G STRING  only
in my dreams)"

Cause of Error:
opend file tryed to start up after download
