runs extremely slow when executing certain functions, for example:

takes 1 second after the button press to select a brush, selecting point based 
entities is fast

takes 4 seconds after the button press to deselect a brush, however deselecting 
a brush based entity is faster than deselecting a worldspawn brush.


takes 3 seconds after a brush is moved to actually move the brush, this happens 
to brush based entities as well.


any brush manipulation seems to cause a slowdown, creating/resizing brushes, 
using the clipper tool, etc. however there is no slowdown for brush rotation 
mode (hotkey R) or for selecting/deselecting the brush faces.


any manipulating of point based entities is fast, looking around with the 3d 
camera doesnt cause any slowdown either.
