i attempted to recreate this bug. no luck.

clean install. i have short file paths, not long. e:\et, e:\quake3, e:\rtcw.
everything else stock. (C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant-1.3)

imo 3 possibilities exist here:

1. it's the long paths.
2. the installer is installing over a previous installation (C:\Program 
Files\GtkRadiant-1.3) and some old lib or other file is causing the crash.
3. user error.

i'm leaning towards 2, personally. no idea though.
