I'm going to have to go with Gordon on this one. Ctrl+X to quit is stupid.
Historically, going back to Apple's first Mac OS stuff, used Ctrl [Cmd] X for
Cut, as it was part of the 'magnificent four': Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, which
happened to have key mnemonics of Z, X, C, and V respectively. Which on a
standard old US QWERTY keyboard, happens to be the first keys on the lower-left,
closest to the Ctrl/Cmd key.
