putting this in the changelog

  - area selection in 2d view:
      Alt+LMB (LMB=left mouse button): area select
      Alt+Ctrl+Shift+LMB             : additive area select
      NOTE: with Alt+multidrag enabled in preferences, you only have additive:

The vertex select shortcutting is working so badly that it's not worth
mentioning. Leaving this bug opened and moving it to 1.2.12 in the vague hope
that we can unify both shortcut sets, and have something clean for Alt+Multidrag
ON (at least not changing behaviours, I suppose disabling what wouldn't work
would be just fine)
