Yep, there is a new format of brushes.  Not a huge difference, but a
required change.  We also support light styles, which again, needed a new

Do the compiling tools differ significantly from their Quake 3 ancestors?

IIRC, the only significant difference for compiling EF maps was a few
surfaceflags (ladder/forcefield).
